Nisbet

I was given the middle name Nisbet in honor of my great-grandmother’s maiden name. She was born to William and Catherine Nisbet of Providence, R.I in 1852.

From my father, I inherited Nisbet-related documents and artifacts which have sparked my interest in the family and provided many insights into the lives of these people.

William Nisbet Autobiography

Upon the death of William Nisbet in 1886, his memoir was published in Providence, RI. Written intermittently over a 25 year period, the book relates the story of his life in fascinating detail. Original copies of the book are dispersed among his descendants today and a digital copy can be viewed and down loaded HERE.

Helen Nicol Nisbet Book

In February 2022, I released an updated version of this book with corrections and additions. It contains the story of Helen Nicol Nisbet (1778-1856) as told through her letters and a personal notebook. The book is available on Amazon and on the Lulu Bookstore website. I have revised the book twice since its original release, making corrections and adding photos.

The Search for James Nisbet Sr.

James Nisbet (1772-1834) represents the “brick wall” in out Nisbet line. We know that his father was also named James (“James Sr.”), but little else about his birth family.
